According to ONA, Royal Oman Police (ROP) has asked all residents to take maximum precaution by remaining indoors until the cyclone is over and keep important medicines for children and patients with acute diseases.

The authorities also required all companies carrying out construction work to ensure stability of materials used at the construction sites.

ROP said that the impact of Gonu has begun to approach Oman's coasts. Most of the country's eastern coast is witnessing heavy rains, strong winds and high waves of 12 meter height. Winds speed ranges between 212 to 260 km per hour.

The authorities have evacuated residents from affected areas to safer areas. Foods, shelters and medical services are also provided to those affected.

In addition, an official holiday has been announced for all governmental departments which will remain closed on June 6-9.

The private sector's companies and establishments in the country were also asked to remain closed on June 5-9, with exception of work that provide necessary services for the society as agreed by employers and employees.
