Arroyo eyes bigger majority after vote

MANILA - Philippine president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said on Wednesday she would have an even bigger majority in the lower house of Congress after national elections this week, insulating her from any impeachment attempt.

"I believe we will have an even bigger majority in the House and an almost complete sweep of the local chief executives," Arroyo said in a statement.

"There's going to be political stability."
