Los Angeles -- A kid nominee and the kid of a nominee nearly stole the show at
Sunday's Oscars.
Ten-year-old Abigail Breslin was about to announce the winner of the Oscar
for animated short film when 8-year-old Jaden Christopher Syre Smith jumped the
gun and began announcing the nominees in the next category, for live-action
short film.
"And now we're here to present another award ...," Smith, who costarred with
his father, Will Smith, in "The Pursuit of Happyness" started to say. Breslin,
nominated for "Little Miss Sunshine," quickly shushed him.
"Oh, that's probably not the right line anyway," he
quipped as Breslin and the audience giggled.
