HAGERSTOWN, Md. - A man who pleaded guilty last month to killing his ex-girlfriend's kitten by throwing it into a fire is back in police custody, accused of violating probation by moving back in with her and her cats.

Robert Lynn Tomlin, 22, of Smithsburg was being held without bond Thursday. The Humane Society of Washington County told parole officials eight days ago he was living with Kelli Green and her animals, according to court documents.

He was sentenced to 18 months, but the sentence was suspended and he was given three years of probation. A condition of the probation was that he have no contact with Green, animals or pets.

It was not possible to leave a phone message after hours with Tomlin's public defender, Carl Creeden. The number did not connect callers to voice mail.
