KATHMANDU - When the family members of Gomati Bhatta, 45, at Badaipur village of far-western Dadeldhura district were mourning over her demise, she arrived home alive and well, local The Kathmandu Post Daily reported here on Monday.

As soon as news of her appearance spread, it created a great commotion and locals began crowding before her house to see Bhatta, whom they had cremated just on Saturday.

Some even rushed to the police station to inform the authority on the incident and some were reluctant to approach her out of fear.

The family sources said that the woman, who was suffering from mild mental illness, was living at her maternal house since a couple of months.

After police brought information about a woman drowned in a pond near her maternal home, her husband rushed to the hospital to receive the body presuming that it was his wife's body.

"As the face of the woman was damaged and beyond recognition, we assumed that the body must be of my sisters-in-law because the clothes the dead woman was wearing matched with that of my sister-in-law," said Dinesh, her brother-in-law revealed.

Now, the police have had to reopen the closed file of woman because it is still unknown who the drowned woman is.
