LUANDA - The Mozambican Ministry of Energy has announced a 20 percent increase for the price of LPG cooking gas, taking effect as from Thursday, according to reports from Maputo reaching here Friday.

The report said, the price for a kilo of gas rises from 23.99 meticais (96 US cents) to 28.79 meticais (1.15 dollars).

The price of fuel oil also rises by 20 percent, from 13.11 meticais (52 cents) to 15.73 meticais (63 cents) per liter. The price of all other liquid fuels remains unchanged.

The report added that the government reviews the price of fuels every month and increases or reduces them whenever the cost of importing fuels, when expressed in meticais, moves in either direction by more than 3 percent, or whenever there is a change in fuel tax.
