Six teenagers listening to radio commentary of a World Cup soccer match died after lightning struck their hut in eastern India, a local official said.

Seven soccer fans were huddled around the radio listening as Argentina beat Serbia-Montenegro by half a dozen goals Friday night when a massive thunderstorm began and a bolt of lightning hit the tin roof of the hut in the remote village of Kesra in West Bengal state, said Pravat Misra, the district magistrate.

All seven were knocked unconscious, and six died on the way to a hospital, Misra said.

The condition of the surviving teenager was not immediately known.
