Car bomb kills 10 south of Baghdad

A car bomb exploded Sunday near a Shiite mosque south of Baghdad, killing at least 10 people and wounding 25, police said.

The blast occurred in a market in Mahmoudiya, 20 miles south of Baghdad, police Capt. Rasheed al-Samaraie said.

Mahmoudiya is a religiously mixed city on the Euphrates river and frequently has been the scene of vehicle bombings over the past two years.
