CPPCC spokesman addresses press ahead of conference

Lyu Xinhua, spokesman for the First Session of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), answered questions from the press on March 2.

Lyu also briefed journalists on the agenda of the conference and talked about the National Committee's recent accomplishments at the meetings' first press conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

This year's conference is scheduled to open at 3 pm on March 3. It will last nine days and end on March 12.

As of Saturday, Lyu said, 2,153 out of the 2,237 committee members had registered at the secretariat of the session and submitted more than 800 proposals and 300 speech transcripts.
