Today BMW is due to announce the price of its electric car i3 in China, and start presales in its 5S stores in four Chinese cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Shenyang.

The BMW i3 offers a solution to emission-free mobility in urban environments by combining practical everyday needs with the BMW hallmark drive.

The passenger seat of the i3 is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, a material that is extremely rigid but significantly lighter than traditional metals, and has been used in Formula One racing cars.

The BMW ConnectedDrive mobility, developed exclusively for BMW i, makes daily driving more comfortable.

One of the most characteristic aesthetic design features of the i3 is a "black belt" that runs from the bonnet over the roof to the back of the car.

The agile and compact design of the car enhances maneuverability and its window design cuts a dynamic shape. The 19-inch wheels reduce rolling resistance and, together with aerodynamic details, ensure efficiency.

BMW executives said that the i3 is more than just a car and has huge appeal in cities, especially with the 360 Electric service package, which covers home charging, flexible mobility and assistance in China.
