"This time the attack targeted Tian'anmen, the heart of China's capital and the country's political center, because they want to generate a greater sense of fear and political impact. People should realize terrorist attacks are not something peculiar to Xinjiang."

Ma Pinyan, senior anti-terrorism researcher and deputy director of the ethnic and religious study center at the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences in Urumqi, on Monday's terrorist attack on Beijing's Tian'anmen Square in which five people died and 40 were injured.

"The idea that men are the breadwinners and women are in charge of domestic affairs is more or less entrenched in people's minds, leading to inequality in employment, promotion and income."

Zhou Haibin, official with the International Labor Organization, speaking on the widening wealth gap between men and women.

"The intention of the application, which makes use of the pressure from social circles to supervise the users, is to encourage young workers and students to return to the healthy habit of going to bed early."
