Celebrate cigars
For cigar enthusiasts, the 13th annual Ybor City Heritage and Cigar Festival on Nov 19 will be a must-go carnival with all manner of cigar-related activities, talks and live entertainment. Highlights include an outdoor cigar exhibit with some of the world's finest cigars, on-site broadcast of the Cigar Dave show, wine and beer garden, local traditional foods and antique car display.

Paris photo fair
Paris Photo, now widely regarded as one of the world's leading photo fairs, runs at the Grand Palais until Nov 13, with an African focus this year. The annual event includes a special display of portraits from the collection of the German Artur Walther, chronicling the work of three generations of African photographers. It's the center of a web of fringe events, including a major show of emerging-world photography at the Quai Branly Museum and exhibits in galleries across the city.
