Still, the 23-year-old Olympic debutant is full of confidence, "I believe there is a lot of room for improvement and that the 10sec wouldn't stop me for long. Wish it would be better in the next World Champion and Olympics."

However, the flag-bearer of the Chinese men's sprinters, Su Bingtian, who smashed the 10sec Asian record and sealed the score of 9.99sec in the 2015 IAAF Diamond League and also surged into the final of World Champion last year with the same time, did not satisfy himself in the Olympic individual event.

"I felt like everything was ok after my quick start and speeded up in my normal pace. But the accelerating ability seemed to decline comparing to last year. It's like some strength is missing."
