ZHENGZHOU - Three soccer fans have been detained following a riot in a Chinese Super League soccer match during the weekend, local police said.

Police said on Sunday that three Guo'an fans were arrested following the violence in Guo'an's 1-1 draw with hosts Jianye in the 10th round of the Chinese top flight soccer league.

They would be detained for five days for "disturbing large scale cultural and sports activities", said the police.

Brawl broke out in Saturday's match interval as Guo'an fans got discontent towards a ruling of the judge who gave the hosts a penalty kick. Fans from both sides quarreled and fought while a few Guo'an fans tore off the chairs, according to the police.

In the meanwhile, police also stepped into the case in which two Guo'an fans buses were smashed.
