Chinese former Olympic champion paddler Kong Linghui, who was drunk, had a physical altercation with a building security guard in Beijing’s Chaoyang district early Friday morning, media reports said.
Chaoyang police confirmed the conflict between Kong, now a coach of the Chinese female ping-pong national team, and the security guard, and said the two sides reached reconciliation with the help of police, Beijing Morning Post reported.
The security department of the Beijing World Financial Centre said the security guard, who was beaten, didn't know Kong before the fight. Kong failed to show the required certificate to enter the building, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
The guard was sent to the hospital for treatment and the police didn’t disclose the amount of compensation from Kong, Beijing Morning Post said.
