Organizers say rail companies will lay on extra trains to make sure people can get home after Olympic events. London's subway trains will also run later than usual. Most rail and subway services normally shut around midnight. During the Olympics they will run until around 1:30 a.m.

Hugh Sumner, director of transport for the Olympic Delivery Authority, said Wednesday there will be 2,000 extra train services during the Olympics in July and August 2012, and an extra 1,500 services during the Paralympics in late August and early September.

Rail companies also say they will suspend engineering works during the games to avoid delays.
