HAGUE - Scot Andy Murray was blown away by Marcos Baghdatis in the first round of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam on Wednesday.

In his first match since losing to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final, Murray lost 6-4, 6-1 to the Cypriot.

"He must have been tired," said Baghdatis. "In 2006 I was in the final of the Australian Open and after that I spend the following week in bed to recover."

In other first round matches of the ATP 500 event, Mikhail Youzhny from Russia, the tournament winner of 2007, beat Marcel Granollers of Spain 6-2, 7-6 (8-6), Frenchman Benot Paire defeated fellow countryman Gilles Simon 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 and Feliciano Lopez of Spain was too strong for Florian Mayer from Germany, winning at 6-3, 6-4.
