At a press conference with Hong Kong singer Eason Chan on Tuesday, Lin said it is time for him to equate his career with his family, and he hopes Chan can compose a song for him to help him propose to his girlfriend.

"I sacrificed a lot of time with my family, girlfriend and other friends for playing badminton, and now I feel there is a need to equate playing the game, which is the most important thing in my life, with my family," said 27-year-old Lin.

He said he will hold on to play at the 2012 Olympic Games but "won't postpone marriage for preparing for the Games."

"I have experienced a lot and I know what the right choice is," he said. "So I would consider getting married even before the Games, and now I am in this effort."
