Karlovic, Ancic to skip US Open

WASHINGTON - Croatians Ivo Karlovic and Mario Ancic will skip the US Open due to injuries, said the US Tennis Association on Monday.

Karlovic, ranked 63rd, had surgery on his leg and hasn't played since the Madrid Masters in May.

Ancic has a back injury and will be skipping a seventh straight major championship.

The US Open starts on August 30 at Flushing Meadows in New York.
