The triple Olympic champion will be targeting his world record of 19.30 seconds on the sixth day of the championships.

Bolt already has taken down his own 100 metres world mark, running a stunning 9.58 seconds on Sunday.

He set records in both events at the Beijing Olympics.

Gold medals also will be at stake in the men's 110 metres hurdles, the decathlon, the women's high jump and the women's 400 metres hurdles.

Cuban world record holder and Olympic champion Dayron Robles struggled in men's hurdles preliminaries with a hamstring injury and was uncertain of his availability for Thursday's semi-finals and final.
