Russia invincible in cross-country skiing

YABULI -- Cross-country powerhouse Russia continued their golden reap here on Monday as Sergey Turychev and Valentina Novikova emerged triumphant in the men's and women's pursuit competitions of the Harbin Winter Universiade.

With the expected wins, Russian skiers have until now swept all six cross-country titles at this Winter Games with four more golds up for grab.

Turychev set a winning time of 40 minutes and 39.5 seconds to lead teammates complete a clean sweep of top five places in the men's competition while Novikova clocked 30:43.8 for the victory in the women's category.

Marina Chernousova and Yulia Tchekaleva, both of Russia, were second and third in the women's pursuit.
