Brazil drops to 5th place in FIFA rankings

Updated: 2008-11-13 15:04 RIO DE JANEIRO-- Brazilian men's soccer team dropped one place on Wednesday in FIFA rankings.
They were ranked fourth in last edition, but were overtaken by the Netherlands to slide one place to fifth. Brazil began the 2008 season in second place, just behind Argentina. During tough times, they fell to sixth place in September. However, in October they were able to climb back up to fourth place. Now, they have lost a step to the Netherlands. Rounding out the top 10 teams, Spain is in first place with 1,647 points. Germany stands in second with 1,413 points, followed by Italy with 1,356 points and the Netherlands with 1,306 points. Brazil has 1,286 points, trailed by Argentina (1,181), Croatia (1,158), Russia (1,079) and the Czech Republic (1,062). Portugal and England are tied for 10th place with 1,058 points a piece. |
