SYDNEY, Australia_ Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond has been banned from the sidelines for two A-League matches after a Football Federation Australia tribunal found him guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.

Van Egmond stormed onto the field after full time in a 2-2 draw Sunday at Perth, which equalized on a late penalty, and was alleged to have berated an opposition player.

The FFA announced Wednesday that van Egmond had been banned for four matches and fined 2,000 Australian dollars ($1,340), however due to his clean record and unreserved apology, the fine and half of the ban would be suspended unless he re-offended this season.

For Newcastle's next two matches, van Egmond will have only restricted access to his players and will not be allowed on the field of play or media areas from two hours before kickoff until an hour after the match.

Newcastle and Perth are in last place in the eight-team A-League after 11 rounds.
