The 37-year-old followed up the successful defence of his British Open title in July with victory in the US PGA Championship to vault to number four in the world rankings.

Harrington will be joined in the field for Asia's richest National Open from November 13-16 by fellow three-times Major winner Phil Mickelson, twice Singapore Open winner Adam Scott and world number seven Ernie Els.

"With Padraig Harrington adding his name to the tournament and raising the bar, we are very excited to have yet another world class player make his mark on Sentosa's Serapong (course) in November," the golf club's Peter Downie said.

"We are just weeks away from watching the world's best at their best on one of Asia's toughest courses."
