Del Potro reaches final at Japan Open

TOKYO -- Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina extended his extraordinary run of form by beating France's Richard Gasquet in three sets Saturday to reach the final of the Japan Open.

Del Potro, seeded fifth, defeated No. 4 Gasquet 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to reach the final of the US$869,000 (euro605,000) tournament where he will face the winner of Saturday's other semifinal between American Andy Roddick and Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.

The 20-year-old Del Potro has now won 29 of his past 30 matches, with the only loss being to eventual finalist Andy Murray in the U.S. Open quarterfinals.

In the the $175,000 (euro121,000) women's event, top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark coasted to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jarmila Gajdosova of Slovakia to reach the finals.
