Chong Wei in Paris triumph over Bao

PARIS - Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei sounded another warming to China with a 21-11 21-14 victory over Bao Chunlai in the final of the French Super Series on Sunday.

It was Chong Wei's third success in the 10 tournaments played so far in the competition's inaugural year and underlined his gold potential with the Olympics less than a year away.

Bao had overcome world champion Lin Dan in the semi-finals but was no match for Chong Wei, who breezed home in 35 minutes. The Malaysian had beaten third seeed Chen Jin of China in the semis and has a good record against Lin.

It was Chong Wei’s fourth Super Series title while Bao’s fourth Super Series runner-up finish this year.   

In later action, Pi Hongyan, born in China but a French national since 2004, had the Paris crowd behind her but lost 21-13 21-13 to top seed Xie Xingfang of China in the final of the women's singles.

Three of the five titles went to China, Chong Wei breaking the monopoly, followed by the Indonesian mixed doubles pair of Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa who beat Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen 21-11 21-15.

The Series moves to China and Hong Kong later this month and culminates in the December 18-23 finals at a venue to be confirmed.
