China wins 7 golds at Military Games

HYDERABAD, India  -- Thanks to super performance in shooting, diving, swimming and track and field, China won seven golds and kept the pace with Rassia on the medal tally at the Military World Games here on Thursday.

Liu Yadong collected 588 points to win men's 25m center fire pistol shooting, grabbing the first gold of the day for China, and his teammate Gao Zheng finished in the second place with 587.

Later on, Ding Xiaoxu added the other gold for China by winning the women's 25m sport pistol shooting in 584.0 points.

Chinese divers continued to dominate the discipline after Pang Bo won China the third diving title.

The Athen's Olympic gold medalist, collected a total of 481.10 points to win the men's 3m springboard, while his teammate Zhang Xinhua took the bronze in 470.60.

Russian diving star Dmitry Sautin settled with a silver in 472.60.

Inspired by their teammates, Chinese swimmers stormed to two golds out of six available.

Zhou Yafei broke the Game's record to win women's 50m butterfly with an astonishing result of 26.68 seconds. Qi Hui added another gold by winning women's 200m breaststroke in 2: 29.23.

On the track and field, Ji Wei clocked 13.44 seconds to win men's 110m hurdles, while Zhang Li clinched the seventh gold for China by winning women's javelin in 59.96 meters.

Russia topped the medal tally with 19 golds, 17 silvers, and 13 bronze, followed by China in 19-9-5. Germany was placed third with 4-3-8.
