RIO DE JANEIRO, July 22 - Around 100 angry Corinthians supporters protested in front of the home of club president Alberto Dualib after their team lost 3-0 at home to Nautico on Sunday.

Brazilian media reports said the supporters went straight from the stadium to Dualib's house in the Alto de Pinheiros district of Sao Paulo, where they threw eggs and firecrackers and chanted insulting slogans.

Photographs showed police cars protecting the house from the fans, who demanded Dualib's resignation.

Earlier, Corinthians, one of the country's most popular teams, were jeered off the field at the Morumbi stadium after being humbled by the team who began the weekend at the bottom of the table.

Nautico went ahead three minutes before halftime when Ferreira headed in following a blunder by the Corinthians defence.

The visitors were also gifted their second when Corinthians defender Betao deflected a free kick into his own goal in the 66th minute before Felipe completed the scoring in the last minute.

Corinthians, champions in 2005, dropped to 17th in the 20-team table after their seventh game without a win.

Flamengo, another popular team, took Nautico's place at the bottom after losing 1-0 to South American Libertadores Cup runners-up Gremio.

Flamengo defender Irineu, under no real pressure, put through his own net following a corner in the 66th minute. Gremio moved up to fourth.

Forward Andre Lima scored a hat-trick, including an injury-time equaliser, as leaders Botafogo held on for a 3-3 draw at Sport Recife. Carlinhos Bala scored twice for Sport and Bruno added their third.

Botafogo, who have 25 points from 12 games, saw their lead cut to three points by defending champions Sao Paulo, who won 2-1 at Cruzeiro despite an injury crisis.

Leandro Domingues headed Cruzeiro in front in the first half, defender Breno equaliser with another header in the 54th minute and midfielder Hernanes scored the winner with a long-range shot.

Parana's 1-0 win over Palmeiras kept them third, behind Sao Paulo on goal difference.
