CHICAGO, July 19 - San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds returned to the line-up against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday and belted a pair of home runs to move within two homers of tying Hank Aaron's career record of 755 roundtrippers.

Bonds, who had missed three successive starts due to a leg injury, led off the top of the second inning against Ted Lilly with a blast over the right-field bleachers for his 752nd career homer.

In the seventh inning, Bonds smacked a three-run shot off Will Ohman for his 19th homer of the season and career number 753.

The Giants were trailing the Cubs 9-8 in the eighth inning at Wrigley Field.
