Pirates acquire infielder Izturis from Cubs(Reuters)Updated: 2007-07-20 09:20 NEW YORK, July 19 - The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired infielder Cesar Izturis from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later, the Pirates announced on Thursday. Pittsburgh also received cash considerations from the Cubs, but no other terms of the deal were given, according to mlb.com. Izturis, 27, hit .246 (47-for-191) with 11 doubles and eight RBI in 65 games with the Cubs this season while making 60 appearances (48 starts) at shortstop. The switch-hitting Izturis was named to the National League All-Star team while playing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005. The native Venezuelan also won the Gold Glove award in 2004 after making just 10 errors in 159 games at shortstop. Izturis was acquired by Chicago from the Dodgers in exchange for pitcher Greg Maddux at last year's July 31 trade deadline.
