NFL club Dolphins cut Culpepper, Patriots re-sign Brown(Reuters)Updated: 2007-07-18 10:29 MIAMI, July 17 - The Miami Dolphins have released quarterback Daunte Culpepper, the NFL said on Tuesday. The decision ends the former Pro Bowler's brief and bitter tenure with the Dolphins, who acquired the one-time Minnesota Vikings quarterback before the 2006 season after he had major knee surgery. Culpepper played in only four games for Miami as he struggled to compete on his weakened knee. After the season, Miami acquired quarterback Trent Green in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. Culpepper has thrown for 137 touchdowns and 21,091 yards, completing 64.2 percent of his passes in 84 games as an NFL starter. The New England Patriots, meanwhile, continued their long association with multi-talented Troy Brown, 36, by signing the wide receiver and emergency defensive back for a 15th season.
