Turkey to host Int'l wind surf race

Turkey's Aegean resort city of Cesme will host the sixth leg races of Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) World Cup between Aug. 13 and 18, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Sixty-four surfers from 25 countries will join the race to be held in Cesme's Alacati hamlet, the report said, adding that the total prize of event is 45,000 euros (61,200 U.S. dollars).

Bjoern Dunkerbeck, the 12-time world men's slalom champion, and Kevin Pritchard, Micah Buzianis, Jimmy Diaz as well as 2006 PWA slalom world champion Antoine Albeau are among the windsurfers to compete in the event.

Turkey will be represented by national men's surfers Bora Kozanoglu, Huseyin Sert and Ali Palamutcu.

Some female surfers, including European champion Cagla Kubat, are also expected to take part in the race, Anatolia added.
