Fresh from winning his first major title in Singapore over the weekend, Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana continued his fine run in Jakarta Wednesday with a victory in the qualifying round of the Indonesia Open Super Series.

The Thailand s top shuttler subdued challenge from local player Ari Yuli Wahyu in three tough games.

The Indonesian unseeded player won the first game 21-14 and looked set to send home his opponent so early when leading 17-12 in the second.

But Ponsana came back to the game and regained the lead 19-18.

It was Ari who first came to the match point but Ponsana leveled 20-20, before sealing the game 24-22. Interestingly, the two men grabbed their few last points of the game from precisions on the net.

Ponsana shifted his defense to an attacking badminton to win the third game 21-17.
