Preparation for the 15th Pan American Games has been nearly done, according to news reaching here Monday.
"The organization for the Pan American Games is in its final stage, 67 days before its opening," Brazilian Carlos Osorio, secretary general of the Games' Organizing Committee (CO-RIO), told journalists in Asuncion, Paraguay Monday.
Osorio, International Relations director of Brazil's Olympic Committee, was attending the 20th Ordinary General Congress of the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR), which will be concluded Tuesday.
He said they have "a scheduled plan to conclude the works in the main sports installations" in Rio de Janeiro.
"The 42 delegations with over 5,600 athletes of the Americas and Caribbean will meet in Rio de Janeiro in July's sixteen-day competition," he said.
"Brazil's goal is to raise a possibly best edition ever and contribute to the Olympic development in the Americas," Osorio said.
