World Pool-billiard Association 8- ball and 9-ball champion Ronato Alcano of the Philippines has arrived in Indonesia, aiming to win the 9-ball Tour opener this weekend.

"It's a tough tournament with many good players playing. Of course, my target is to reach the finals and become the eventual winner," he was quoted Friday by English daily The Jakarta Post as saying.

Alcano will have an early test in Group H with Chinese Taipei's ace Yang Ching-shun. Yang is the 1993 World Pool champion, the three-time champion of the tour and 2005 overall tour leader.

They both are drawn with Malaysian Patrick Ooi.

Three-time overall tour leader Efren Reyes will not play in the three-day tour from Friday to Sunday at the Sultan Hotel, Central Jakarta.

When asked about the host players' chance to win the tour, Alcano played down their possibility to advance to the next rounds although Indonesia's No.1 Ricky Yang finished second in the Jakarta leg last year.

"I don't think they (Indonesian players) will reach the finals, " he said.

Other Indonesians are seventh seed Siauw Wieto and Jimmy Jusman.

Organizers ESPN Star Sports announced Thursday that it had awarded one additional slot to the host country and the Indonesian Billiard Association (POBSI) had appointed Muhammad Zulfikri to fill the slot
