The General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) selected here Monday Qatar to organize the 4th Outdoor Asian Games 2011.

Due to the wonderful organization of the Asiad 2006, Qatar was granted by OCA the honor of organizing the 2011 Outdoor Asian Games, said OCA President Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah.

Meanwhile, Oman, another Gulf state, would host the 2nd Beach Asian Games 2010, said al-Sabah, who then hailed its preparations for building an integrated water tourist city on the purpose.

The holding of diverse Asian championships in the Gulf region has indicated its countries' ability to organize and run major sports events in an efficient and effective manner, al-Sabah added.

The president, who was granted a new fifth four-year term, also highlighted the successful organization of the 6th Winter Asian Games in Changchun of China in February 2007.

The 45-member OCA will select the host city of 17th Asian Games 2010. The two bidding cities are Incheon of South Korea and India's capital New Delhi.
