The stadium for the 2007 Ice Hockey World Championship set for late April in Moscow has not been fully ready but was expected to be completed by April 10, the Russian Interfax news agency reported on Saturday.

Moscow has "in general" met its deadline for building a stadium for the event. "But, of course, not everything has been finished, " the Interfax said, quoting Mayor Yury Luzhkov.

"The multifunctional Ice Palace in Khodynskoye Pole is on a trial run, and beautification work continues outside it," the Russian Itar-Tass news agency quoted Luzhkov as saying.

The mayor pledged to complete the stadium, named the Ice Palace with a total floor space of more than 60,000 square meters and a capability of 14,000 people, by April 10.

The championship was scheduled from April 27 to May 13.

Moscow last hosted the championship in 1986.
