Myanmar forms women futsal team for SEA Games

Myanmar has formed women futsal team to compete in the 24th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games for the first time, according to the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) Friday.

Aiming at developing futsal sport in Myanmar, the women futsal team was formed a few days ago and it will participate in the 24thSEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand in December, the MFF said.

The women futsal team, comprises 19 players from the national and U-19 women soccer teams, will be trained by two local coaches for the SEA Games, the MFF added.

Meanwhile, nearly two-year-old the Myanmar men futsal team, has been trained by a Japanese coach since February this year, has become ready to compete in the 5th ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Tournament due to start later this month, the MFF said earlier.

The Myanmar men futsal team took part in the ASEAN futsal competition for the first time in May 2006 and secured third place.

Moreover, the Myanmar men futsal team along with the China's Macao and the Cambodian teams withdrew from the qualifier matches for the AFC Futsal Cup scheduled on March 1-5 in Chinese Taipei.
