It's the first victory Cottbus has chalked up against Dortmund and it helped them climb to tenth place in the league's table.

Shao was only put on the field in the 61st minute after the visiting Cottbus team took an unexpected 2-1 lead, thanks to Vlad Munteanu's goals.

But Shao successfully made his appearance a highlight of the game with his third for the club just four minutes after the substitution. He shook off the defence and chipped a grounder into the back of the net at close range.

Alexander Frei scored twice for the home side. He should have added a third, but his last goal in closing time was declared offside.

After the game, Dortmond, once considered a league title favorite, fell to 11th place in the 18-team league.

Defender Sebastian Kehl said they now have to make every effort to avoid the threat of relegation.
