Chinese men's hurdling legend Liu Xiang tightly gripped first place in the latest IAAF rankings released on Thursday.

Liu Xiang remains on top with 1,400 points, a score also good for his sixth in the overall rankings for all male athletes that Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell leads.

Cuban star Dayron Robles, who outclassed Liu Xiang at the Sparkassencup track and field meet in Stuttgart, Germany on February 4, was second with 1,387.

Another Chinese hurdler, Shi Dongpeng, is 23rd.

Liu Xiang finished with two wins and a loss in competitions earlier this year. Other than a narrow defeat in Stuttgart, the world's fastest hurdler earned victories in D??sseldorf and Karlsruhe, where he renewed the Asian record of the men's 60m hurdle in 7.42 seconds.
