Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks will replace New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd in the All-Star Game, NBA Commissioner David Stern said on Wednesday.
An eight-times All-Star, Kidd is suffering from a back strain and is unable to play for the Eastern Conference in Sunday's game in Las Vegas.

Johnson, in his sixth NBA season, is averaging 25.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game and will be making his first All-Star appearance.

Kidd, a 13-year point guard, is averaging 14.3 points, eight rebounds and 8.7 assists this season
