Makoveev wins 3rd gold on Biathlon

Russian Andrei Makoveev won his third gold medal in the biathlon with a victory of the men's 15km mass start event on Wednesday at the Winter Universiade.

Makoveev, who had the 10km sprint and 12.5km pursuit gold medals in pocket, timed 48 minutes and 52.8 seconds to prove his superior at San Sicario snow.

Ukraine's pair Oleg Berezhnoy and Serguei Sednev came second and third respectively, timing 37.0 seconds and 1:07.9 minutes plus to the leader.

Belarus' Nadezhda Skardino won the women's 12.5km mass start by46:50.7, 17.6 seconds faster than Russian Nadejda Kolesnikova. Valj Semerenko of Ukraine took the bronze.

In the women's Super Giant, Giulia Marchesini of Italy won by 1: 15.15 and her compatriot Alessia Pittin on second by 1:16.30.

Petra Robnik won a bronze medal for Slovenia by 1:16.52.
