Argentine Rugby club San Isidro Athletic, known as CASI, has won the 18th edition of the Punta del Este Rugby Sevens competition, which included 19 teams from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, local press said on Monday.

In their last match on Sunday, CASI crushed fellow Argentine team, 2006 winner Moby Dick, 26-17. The silver trophy goes to another Argentine team, Hindu, who on Sunday won 14-10 over Argentine team Jockey de Salta, Buenos Aires's URBA competition.

The bronze goes to San Isidro Club (SIC), who on Sunday beat Uruguay's Carrasco Polo, the best placed local team.

The best players were Juan Campomar, from Uruguay's Old Boys, and Juan Campero, from CASI.

The competition took place in Maldonado Campus, 140 km east of Uruguay capital Montevideo.
