Chinese footballer Sun Xiang is set to report for duty in Eindhoven at the beginning of next week after the top Dutch club PSV signed him on loan, said the club on Saturday.

The 24-year-old defender is now in Spain with the Chinese national team for a series of friendlies. But Sun will not immediately report for duty with PSV head coach Ronald Koeman in La Manga, Spain, said the club.

PSV will play a friendly game against 1.FC Koln on Sunday afternoon.

Sun will first travel back to Shanghai in order to complete some formalities and arrange some personal affairs, said PSV.

PSV announced on Friday that they have brought Sun on loan until the end of the season from Shanghai's Shenhua club. PSV have the option of signing the player on a three-year contract.

PSV handed Sun Xiang and his twin brother Sun Ji a two-week trial last November.
