Manchester United's Phil Bardsley has joined Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season, the Premier League club based in Birmingham announced Monday.

Bardsley, a 21-year-old full-back, who has previously had loan spells with Burnley and Rangers, will not be allowed under the terms of the deal to play against United at Old Trafford on Saturday but should be available for a Villa debut at home to Watford on January 20.

Villa, managed by former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill, is currently 13th in the table and eight points above the relegation zone.
