Lakers halt Mavs 13-game streak

NEW YORK - The Los Angeles Lakers ended the Dallas Mavericks' 13-game winning streak as Kobe Bryant scored 26 points in a 101-98 victory that earned Lakers coach Phil Jackson his 900th career win on Sunday.

Sasha Vujacic played a key role in the victory, scoring nine points in a 33-point final quarter for the host Lakers. Vujacic put the Lakers ahead for keeps with a three-point jumper with 28 seconds remaining and had a career-high 16 points for the game.

The victory gave Jackson a 900-364 career record and saw him become the fastest coach to reach the mark. He did it in 1,264 games and ranks ninth on the NBA all-time victory list.

Bryant had eight rebounds and six assists to go with his 26 points, while Luke Walton added 21 points, including a key free throw that ended the scoring.

Dirk Nowitzki paced the Mavericks with 29 points and 13 rebounds. His driving lay-up had given Dallas a 98-97 lead with 41 seconds remaining, but the next four points belonged to Los Angeles.

*In Phoenix, the Suns won their sixth consecutive game by defeating the Golden Star Warriors 128-105.

* Dwyane Wade returned from a wrist injury to score 33 points as the Miami Heat stopped the Portland Trail Blazers 93-90 in Portland, Oregon.

* Kevin Garnett scored 26 points and had 13 rebounds to power the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 103-99 overtime victory over the Houston Rockets, their fourth straight win.

* Manu Ginobili scored 34 points and had five steals as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 110-96 in Memphis, Tennessee.

* The Orlando Magic won their fourth straight game, defeating the Boston Celtics 87-79 in Orlando, Florida despite scoring only 12 points in the third quarter.

* The Toronto Raptors ended the Washington Wizards' three-game winning streak with a 116-111 victory in Toronto.
