England lost skipper Andrew Flintoff and Sajid Mahmood in quick succession as they headed for defeat in three days against Australia in the fourth Ashes test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday.

Flintoff was adjudged lbw to Stuart Clark for 25 while Mahmood was again deemed leg before for a two-ball duck to Shane Warne as England slipped to the doomed position of 109 for seven, needing a further 151 runs to make Australia bat again.

The hosts had been dismissed for 419 in the morning session with Andrew Symonds out for 156.
