NFL-Vick and Andersen set record but Falcons flop(Reuters)Updated: 2006-12-25 09:11 Quarterback Michael Vick and kicker Morten Andersen put their name in the NFL record books but the Atlanta Falcons still watched their playoff hopes slip away with 10-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Vick, who set the record for yards rushing a week earlier against the Dallas Cowboys, ran four times for 32 yards to become the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. His milestone carry came on a 17-yard run on the Falcons opening possession and ended in another as Andersen booted his 539th career field goal to break the mark he had shared with Gary Andersen. With the victory Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke avoided any chance of claiming one of the league's more infamous records. The victory ended Weinke's 17-game losing streak as a starter, the second longest in NFL history behind Dan Pastorini who went 21 games without a win from 1972 to 1974. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning also added another line to the NFL record books, completing 21-of-27 passes for 205-yards in a 27-24 loss to the lowly Houston Texans to go over 4,000-yards passing for a record seventh time.
