Nuggets v Suns game postponed due to snowstorm(Reuters)Updated: 2006-12-21 11:13 NEW YORK - The NBA game between the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns was postponed on Wednesday due to a snowstorm in the Denver area. High winds accompanied by an expected snowfall of at least 12 inches were expected in Denver on Wednesday, leaving road conditions treacherous and the airport closed. Even though both teams were in Denver, the Nuggets and the NBA both felt that holding the game would not be appropriate and would endanger fans and players trying to get to the Pepsi Center. The postponement came just 24 hours after the Nuggets pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, sending Allen Iverson to Denver. Iverson was not expected to be able to make it to Denver for the game due to travel restrictions already in place. The Nuggets hope that Iverson will be able to join them in time for their Friday home game against Sacramento. Phoenix is on a franchise record 15-game winning streak and the Nuggets are without their other top player, Carmelo Anthony, who is serving a 15-game suspension for his part in a brawl against New York on Saturday. The Suns host Washington on Friday. |
