Filipino Violito Payla upset former world champion Somjit Jongjohor of Thailand for the flyweight gold, while Olympic champion Bakhtiyar Artayev of Kazakhstan was upset by Uzbekistan's Elshod Rasulov in the middleweight final.

Bahodirjon Sultonov won the featherweight title for Uzbekistan and Iran's Ali Mazaheri took the heavyweight gold.

"Everyone gave me the opportunities and that is why I could win today," said Manus. "I have always been confident that I would get the gold medal in these Asian Games. I had a really strong focus."

Manus took the bout 22-11 after taking an early points lead with a flurry of body shots in a strong first round, and maintaining the pressure the rest of the way.

"He is the 2004 Athens Olympic champion, but I am satisfied with my result because now I have two Asian Games medals," said Shin. "I got the bronze in 2002 and now I have silver."

Payla peppered Somjit with jabs from the first round, controlling the bout from start to finish with wave after wave of punches to win 31-15.

"I am looking at getting gold in the Olympics for the Philippines and I want to dedicate this honor to the Filipino people who stayed up late at night to watch my bouts," said Payla. "This is my sweetest victory and I have avenged the three defeats to Jongjohor."

After winning the first three close rounds, Rasulov remained focused to take the gold 33-22 on points.

"After the second round I knew I would win, but the coach's advice still helped throughout," Rasulov said. "He said to stay focused, to stay on track and win."

Sultonov beat Mongolia's Enkhzorig Zorigtbaatar 37-15 for his gold medal, while Mazaheri took the heavyweight title with a 25-19 decision over Jasur Matchanov.

In Wednesday's gold medal bouts _ Olympic light flyweight champion Zou Shiming of China meets Thailand's Suban Pannon; Filipino Joan Tipon faces Han Soon-chul of South Korea for the bantamweight title; Chinese Hu Qing takes on Mongolian lightweight Munkh Erdene Uranachimeg; Bakhyt Sarsekbayev of Kazakhstan and Thailand's Angkhan Chomphuphuang contest the welterweight; Song Hak-sung of South Korea and Tajikistan's Djakhon Kurbanov fight for the light heavyweight title; and Kazakhstan super heavyweight Mukhtarkhan Dildabekov meets Rustam Saidov of Uzbekistan.
